I know it’s the Fourth of July, but I simply must share this joyful rustic-country-chic wedding with y’all (Yes, I can say “y’all” without irony because I was born in Texas). So let’s talk about this wonderful couple! Ben & Morgan have been acquaintances of mine for years, but we reconnected via facebook and I became their engagement/wedding photographer and we are happy to become real-life friends. As we met for coffee several times in the planning stages, conversation was so natural and we connected on so many levels. It was great to understand their hearts, to see with our own eyes this incredible love they have for one another and to be privileged to capture their wedding day on camera.
On June 23rd, 2012, Ben and Morgan became husband and wife. Married. Forever covenanted in holy matrimony. There were many precious moments about this day. Many times, I smiled to see the look of love in their eyes, the tenderness of their touch, the shared glances, the sweet whispers. There was a seriousness about their wedding vows, a lighting-of-the-unity-candle ceremony that seemed more meaningful… and that electric moment when Ben walked down the aisle to meet his bride half-way, to take her hand and walk side-by-side to the altar. Ohmy, I still get chills thinking about it.
The day dawned with amazing blue skies and happy puffy clouds!
Let’s start with some great details.
Morgan, the bride, is getting ready with the help of her bridesmaids.
Just across the hall (though with several people standing guard so Ben could not see his bride yet!), Ben is getting ready. And let me just say, we absolutely ADORED the unique colors/dresses/suits/general style of this wedding. Keep watching. I know you’ll agree!
Prior to the ceremony, we were able to spend some time in Tudek Park (where we shot Ben & Morgan’s fabulous engagement session!) for wedding party portraits. Mmmmm, yes. There was some deliciously lovely light.
Burlap-wrapped wildish-flower bouquets + bridesmaids wearing cowboy boots! Ahh!
Fields, barn and those amazing clouds again. With sunglasses. Because it’s cool!
Now for the most important part of the day… the wedding ceremony!
Morgan began walking up the aisle alone. Ben met her half-way, took her hand and they walked side-by-side to the alter. It was so moving. Such a beautiful picture of what marriage is and the decision made to walk side-by-side in life.
As we were waiting for a car to go to another portrait location, I turned around and this is what the bride and groom were doing. Such a cute newly-married moment!
There was a random fence just across the street from the church. PERFECT for some rustic and romantic bride&groom portraits.
Love is beautiful.
Let the celebration begin!
The best man speech began and ended with lots of smiling and laughing. And a line that went something like this: “we always talked about getting old together, sitting on the front porch with our rockers… so when we’re old and sitting on the front porch in our rocking chairs, I guess I won’t mind having a pretty lady there, too.”
Their getaway car; playfully decorated by their friends and family.
Ben & Morgan, congratulations on your marriage. May your life together be as sweet and wonderful as your wedding day.
